  • Sesquiterpenes from the Brazilian Red Alga Laurencia dendroidea J. Agardh.
    Molecules (Basel Switzerland), 2014
Co-Authors: Fernanda Lacerda Da Silva Machado, Thatiana Lopes Biá Ventura, Lísia Mônica De Souza Gestinari, Valéria Cassano, Jackson A. L. C. Resende, Carlos R. Kaiser, Elena B. Lasunskaia, Michelle Frazão Muzitano, Angélica Ribeiro Soares
    Abstract:

Two new chamigrane sesquiterpenes 1-2 and three known compounds 3-5 were isolated from a lipophilic extract of the Red Alga Laurencia dendroidea collected from the

  • Antileishmanial sesquiterpenes from the Brazilian Red Alga Laurencia dendroidea.
    Planta medica, 2010
Co-Authors: Fernanda Lacerda Da Silva Machado, Mutue T Fujii, Lísia Mônica De Souza Gestinari, Carlos R. Kaiser, Wallace Pacienza-lima, Bartira Rossi-bergmann, Joel Campos De Paula, Sônia Soares Costa, Norberto Peporine Lopes, Angélica Ribeiro Soares
    Abstract:

Investigation of the bioactive crude extracts from two populations of the Red Alga Laurencia dendroidea from the southeastern Brazilian coast led to the identification of five sesquiterpenes: (+)-obtusane (1), a triquinane derivative (2), (-)-elatol (3), obtusol (4), and cartilagineol (5). An antileishmanial bioassay against Leishmania amazonensis was conducted for crude lipophilic extracts and for sesquiterpenes 2, 3, and 4. Compounds 3 and 4 displayed in vitro and in vivo leishmanicidal activity and very low cytotoxicity.

  • bisabolanes from the Red Alga laurencia scoparia
    Journal of Natural Products, 2006
Co-Authors: Danilo Davyt, Rafael Fernandez, Leopoldo Suescun, Alvaro W Mombru, Jenny Saldana, Laura Dominguez, Mutue T Fujii, Eduardo Manta
    Abstract:

Three novel halogenated beta-bisabolene sesquiterpenoids (1-3), together with two know triquinane alcohol sesquiterpenes (6 and 7), were isolated from the Red Alga Laurencia scoparia and their structures elucidated by spectroscopic methods. Single-crystal X-ray crystallography allowed us to confirm the structure of 1 as well as to determine the absolute configuration of all stereocenters. To the best of our knowledge, the isolation of beta-bisabolenes from the genus Laurencia has no precedent in the literature. Compound 1 showed weak in vitro anthelmintic activity against parasitant stage (L4) Nippostrongilus brasiliensis.

  • Aldingenin derivatives from the Red Alga Laurencia aldingensis.
    Phytochemistry, 2006
Co-Authors: Luciana Retz De Carvalho, Mutue T Fujii, Nidia F. Roque, João Henrique G. Lago
    Abstract:

Three brominated bisabolene-type sesquiterpene derivatives, aldingenin B, C and D, together with cholesterol and palmitic acid, have been isolated from the Red Alga Laurencia aldingensis (Ceramiales, Rodophyta) and their structures elucidated by spectroscopic methods including NMR analysis.
