Introducing OEE as a measure of lean Six Sigma Capability
International Journal of Lean Six Sigma, 2010Co-Authors: Paul M. Gibbons, Stuart C BurgessAbstract:Purpose – The current paradigm for assessing overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) is challenged as being anachronistic to the needs of businesses that now require a more holistic indicator of plant and process effectiveness. The purpose of this paper is to introduce a new framework that expands the original OEE measure to inform business performance at multiple levels focusing on adding benchmarkable indicators of asset management effectiveness and process Capability. The ability to compare internal performance against external competition and vice verse is argued as being a critical attribute of any performance measurement system.Design/methodology/approach – The research methodology taken incorporated an action research approach using a pilot study combining case study research with an action research process of planning, observing and reflecting summarized as taking an action case research design.Findings – The OEE and related literature is replete with many different enhancements to the original OEE ...

KUALITAS PRODUK BEDAK TWO-WAY CAKE DENGAN METODE STATISTICAL PROCESS CONTROL (SPC) DAN FMEA PADA PT UNIVERSAL SCIENCE COSMETIC
Industrial and Systems Engineering Assessment Journal, 2009Co-Authors: Edi SusantoAbstract:With a good product quality, it is expected that the consumers can trust the product. Fulfilling this need, a quality improvement program is implemented with the aim of producing products with higher quality but with less cost. The problem faced by PT USC is the number of defects in production caused by the lack of quality control to product defects. The method used to solve the problem is FMEA and seven tools methods consisting of control charts, pareto diagram, and cause-effect diagram. By performing calculations Sigma Capability, Sigma value 4.7064 obtained by following the reference Motorola’s Sigma. For new company who early founded, to say the Sigma value is pretty good although it should be continuously improved to nearly the level of six Sigma.

Stochastic Optimization of AISI 52100 Hard Turning With Six Sigma Capability Constraint
IEEE Access, 2019Co-Authors: Alexandre F. Torres, Renata P. R. Miranda, Anderson P. Paiva, Paulo H. S. Campos, Pedro Paulo Balestrassi, João R. FerreiraAbstract:Hard turning optimization problems are usually approached using response surface methodology. By running designed experiments, researchers build analytical models to represent the outputs under interest. However, most studies focus on the expected values of the outputs, and only a few consider the variances of the models, even though there are several stochastic programming (SP) techniques available in the literature. Such variances may have a significant impact on the problem solution. This paper aims to optimize the AISI 52100 hardened steel turning process using SP. The decision variables are cutting speed, feed rate, and depth of cut, outputs have cost per part and material removal rate, and average surface roughness six Sigma Capability is modeled as a stochastic constraint. The SP method is also compared with the conventional one, which did not include the variances into the problem. The results show that taking the variability of the models into account is necessary to obtain a satisfactory process Capability and to analyze different scenarios. Finally, this paper shows that competitive results can be achieved by simplifying the problem formulation.

USULAN PENERAPAN METODOLOGI SIX Sigma UNTUK MENINGKATKAN KUALITAS PRODUK KABEL NYY 4X 16 MM2 (STUDI KASUS PT SUCACO TBK, JAKARTA)
ABSTRACT [ Tittle : Proposed Application Of Six Sigma Methodology To Improve Quality Products Cables NYY 4x 16 mm 2 (Case Study at Pt . Sucaco Tbk Jakarta ) ] Quality is an absolute owned by a product, where a good quality will show increasingly competitive in the global market as well as globally. The quality of products is determined by how well the characteristics of quality in accordance with what consumers need. PT Sucaco is a company engaged in the cable industry. As a multinational company, PT Sucaco required to produce quality cables and in accordance with established specifications. But in fact in the production process there is often a problem on the results of bending a thin cable. It is necessary for a quality control by using statistical quality control (Statistical Process Control), which is where one of the methods that implement Six Sigma SPC is a method. In this method of research conducted through five stages, namely DMAIC: define, measure, anayze, improve, and control. The variables used were thick inner sheat NYY cable 4x16 mm2 .. The results of the data analysis concludes that the cable bending process in PT Sucaco reached a level of 2,08 Sigma-Sigma Capability, while the bending process Capability is still less than 1.
