    Abstract:

    A comparative study to assess the effectiveness of infra red light therapy and warm water Sitz Bath on episiotomy wound healing status and level of pain perception among postnatal mothers in selected primary health centers at kanyakumari district was conducted by Mrs.G.Helen Hema Bai in partial fulfillment of the requirement for the degree of master of science in nursing at the Sri.K.Ramachandran Naidu college of nursing, under the Tamil Nadu Dr.M.G.R.Medical University. The objectives of the study were 1. To assess the level of episiotomy wound healing status and level of pain perception among postnatal mothers in Group A and B. 2. To find out the effectiveness of episiotomy wound healing status and level of pain perception among postnatal mothers in Group A and B. 3. To compare the pre and post test level of episiotomy wound healing status and level pain perception among postnatal mothers in Group A and B. 4. To correlate the post test level of episiotomy wound healing status and level of pain perception among postnatal mothers in Group A and B. 5. To associate the post test level of episiotomy wound healing status and level of pain perception among postnatal mothers in Group A and B with their selected demographic variables. The following hypotheses were set for the study, All hypotheses were tested at 0.05 levels. H1 There was a significant difference in the pre and post test level of episiotomy wound healing status and level of pain perception among postnatal mothers in Group A. H2 There was a significant difference in the pre and post test level of episiotomy wound healing status and level of pain perception among postnatal mothers in Group B. H3 There was a significant difference in the post test level of episiotomy wound healing status and level of pain perception among postnatal mothers in Group A and B. H4 There was a positive correlation between the post test level of episiotomy wound healing status and level of pain perception among postnatal mothers in Group A and B. H5 There was a significant association between the post test level of episiotomy wound healing status and level of pain perception among postnatal mothers in Group A and B with their selected demographic variables. The study was based on Modified Wiedenbach”s helping art of clinical nursing model. The study was conducted in Kannanoor and Chemparuthivilai primary health centers at Kanyakumari District. The design adopted for this study was two group pre and post test quasi experimental design to evaluate the effectiveness of infra red light therapy and warm water Sitz Bath on episiotomy wound healing status and level of pain perception among postnatal mothers. Purposive sampling technique was used and selected sixty postnatal mothers with episiotomy wound who were admitted in the primary health centers. Among that thirty samples were received Infra red light therapy (Group A) and thirty samples were received warm water Sitz Bath (Group B). The data collection tools were developed for generating the necessary data by using REEDA scale to assess the episiotomy wound healing status and modified visual analogue scale to assess the level of pain perception. The content validity of the tools was established by two medical experts and four nursing experts. The reliability of the tool (r=0.8) was established by inter-rater observer method. The instruments were found to be reliable. Pilot study was conducted to find out the feasibility of the study and to plan for data analysis. Data collection was done and the data obtained were analysis in terms of both descriptive and inferential statistics

    ABSTRAK   Salah satu penyebab perdarahan postpartum adalah gangguan kontraksi uterus yang dapat diakibatkan oleh adanya retensio urin. Mengatasi masalah berkemih salah satu dapat dilakukan dengan intervensi bladder training dan salah satu intervensi non invasif menggunakan alat Sitz Bath dengan prinsip hidroterapi.Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui efektifitas bladder training Sitz Bath terhadap proses eliminasi spontan pada ibu post partum spontan dengan kriteria waktu pertama BAK dan jumlah BAK. Jenis penelitian ini adalah quasy eksperimental. Subyek penelitian adalah 20 ibu nifas dengan persalinan spontan di RS Aisyiyah Bojonegoro yang dibagi menjadi dua kelompok, kelompok pertama 10 ibu nifas diberikan intervensi blader training Sitz Bath dan kelompok kedua 10 ibu nifas sebagai kelompok kontrol. Analisis yang digunakan menggunakan uji Independent t test. Hasil uji Independent t test didapatkan nilai p value untuk waktu pertama BAK =  0,02 dan jumlah BAK dengan nilai p value = 0,062. Oleh karena itu kebersihan vagina perlu mendapat perhatian lebih. Cara perawatan luka perineum adalah dengan menjaga agar luka perineum selalu bersih dan kering. Selain perawatan bersih dan kering, duduk berendam atau zits Bath dapat dipertimbangkan untuk perawatan kebersihan pada luka perineum. Sitz Bath adalah mandi di mana pinggul dan bokong direndam dalam air, baik menggunakan air murni atau mengandung obat-obatan. Tujuan penelitian ini yaitu mengetahui efektifitas hydroterapi Sitz Bath dan perawatan luka bersih kering terhadap penyembuhan luka perineum pada ibu postpartum. Metode penelitian ini menggunakan desain quasi experiment dengan rancangan nonequivalent control group posttest only design. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah ibu postpartum spontan yang sedang dirawat yang mengalami luka perineum dalam 1 bulan 60 orang. Sampel berjumlah 30 orang yang diambil secara nonprobability sampling. Alat dan instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu SOP baik hidroterapi Sitz Bath maupun perawatan luka bersih kering dan checklist REEDA. Data dianalisa secara derkriptif dan komparatif menggunakan uji Mann Whitney U Test.Hasil penelitian menunjukkan Ibu post partum kelompok perlakuanhidroterapi Sitz Bath dengan penyembuhan luka perineum kategori cepat (66,7%). Ibu post partum kelompok perawatan luka bersih kering dengan penyembuhan luka perineum kategori cepat (53,3%). Hidroterapi Sitz Bath lebih efektif menyembuhkan luka perineum pada ibu post partum dibanding dengan perawatan luka bersih kering (p value: 0,005). Berdasarkan penelitian ini perlu diadakan penelitian lebih lanjut guna mencari sejauh mana pengaruh faktor-faktor yang berhubungan dengan penyembuhan luka perineum dalam pengaplikasian Sitz Bath untuk mempercepat penyembuhan luka perineum serta melengkapi keluasan data dengan menggunakan data kualitatifKata kunci: Sitz Bath, perawatan luka bersih kering, penyembuhan luka perineum, ibu post partum1 Peneliti2 Pembimbing I3 Pembimbing I

    A study was to assess the effectiveness of hot application and cold application on episiotomy wound among postnatal mothers in Trichy. The objective was assess the level of episiotomy wound among postnatal mothers after lavender oil Sitz Bath and cold gel pack application, compare the effectiveness of lavender oil Sitz Bath and cold gel pack application on episiotomy wound and find out the association between episiotomy wound with selected demographic variables among postnatal mothers who are all undergoing lavender oil Sitz Bath and cold gel pack application. In this study the hypothesis at p < 0.05 level of significant. Imogene king goal attainment theory was used for conceptual framework. The research design used for the current study was quasi experimental design. A total of sixty postpartum women (experimental group-1 and experimental Group-2 each group consisted of 30 women) were recruited conveniently for this study from primary health centre at trichy district. In this study interventions used in applying hot Sitz Bath with lavender oil for experimental group-1 and applying cold application with cold gel pack for experimental Group-2 for 15-20 minutes twice a day for 3 consecutive days given. Tools used for data collection consisted of interviewing sheet, the standardized REEDA scale. Finally the statistical analysis revealed that, the post test mean difference was 3.100. The paired t test value showed statistically significant difference in episiotomy wound (t = 2.73 and p = < 0.0001). There was a significant association between place of residence, monthly income and food habit. Finally the study concluded that, the lavender oil Sitz Bath is an effective intervention than cold gel pack application to enhance the level of episiotomy wound
