    Abstract:

    IntroductionDigital preservation is a broad, evolving, and important1 facet of digital asset management, yet often overlooked by library administration and understated in library operations. Digital preservation2 refers to all of the actions required to maintain access to digital materials beyond the limits of media failure or technological change. Those digital materials may be records created during the day-to-day business of an organization;"born-digital" materials created for a specific purpose (e.g. teaching resources); or the products of digitization projects. The purpose of this paper is to provide an analytical survey of digital preservation, techniques and constraints faced by engineering education institutional libraries at Rayalaseema region of Andhrapradesh.Review of LiteratureRoland, Lena (2012)3 investigates the challenges of preserving information in the digital age, and explores how this may affect the future of historical knowledge. The study is based on a series of semi-structured interviews with forty-one historians, archivists, librarians, and web researchers. While the results reject the idea of a single 'digital black hole' in historical records, they emphasize the importance of the issue for the future of history, and the complexity of the solutions to be adopted. The need for planning, for education, and for cooperation between historians and the information professions is also emphasized. Kastellec, Mike (2012)4 examines factors that limit the ability of institutions to digitally preserve the cultural heritage of the modern era. The author takes a wide-ranging approach to shed light on limitations to the scope of digital preservation. The authors find that technological limitations to digital preservation have been addressed but still exist, and that non-technical aspects-access, selection, law, and finances-move into the foreground as technological limitations recede. The authors propose a nested model of constraints to the scope of digital preservation and conclude that costs are digital preservation's most pervasive limitation. Katre, Dinesh (2012)5 provides a comparison between the American and Indian digital preservation programmes based on the essential building blocks such as national legislation for digital preservation, basic legal framework, national digital preservation initiative, digital preservation tools, standards and practice guidelines, digital repository infrastructure, and audit and certification. Selected digital preservation policies of the organizations from UK, USA, Canada, and Australia are also analyzed. The gap analysis shows that in the Indian context, legislation on digital preservation of electronic records and institutional digital preservation policies are the missing elements, which need to be addressed on high priority. Singh, Anil (2012)6 examines the potential for preserving Indian's cultural heritage resources in a digital world and making it globally accessible. The paper discusses the initiatives taken by Indian government for digital preservation of cultural heritage resources and manuscripts.ObjectivesThe objective of this survey is to make an analysis on the Digital Preservation of Engineering Education Institutional Libraries in Rayalaseema Region of Andhra Pradesh.     Starting from the basic level of mathematica here we illustrate how to use a mathematica notebook and write a program in the notebook. Next, we investigate elaborately the way of linking of external programs with mathematica, so-called the mathlink operation. Using this technique we can run very tedious jobs quite efficiently, and the operations become extremely fast. Sometimes it is quite desirable to run jobs in background of a computer which can take considerable amount of time to finish, and this allows us to do work on other tasks, while keeping the jobs running. The way of running jobs, written in a mathematica notebook, in background is quite different from the conventional methods i.e., the techniques for the programs written in other languages like C, C++, F77, F90, F95, etc. To illustrate it, in the present article we study how to create a mathematica batch-file from a mathematica notebook and run it in the background. Finally, we explore the most significant issue of this article. Here we describe the basic ideas for parallelizing a mathematica program by sharing its independent parts into all other remote computers available in the network. Doing the parallelization, we can perform large computational operations within a very short period of time, and therefore, the efficiency of the numerical works can be achieved. Parallel computation supports any version of mathematica and it also works significantly well even if different versions of mathematica are installed in different computers.     After 12 years, support for Windows XP will end on April 8, 2014. So proclaims a Microsoft website with a helpful clock counting down the days. What does this mean? the website asks. It means you should take action. You should migrate to a current Supported Operating System - such as Windows 8.1 - so you can receive regular security updates to protect [your] computer from malicious attacks. The costs of mass migration will be immense. About 30% of all desktop PCs are running Windows XP right now. An estimated 10% of the U.S. government\u27s computers run Windows XP, including thousands of computers on classified military and diplomatic networks. And the costs of staying put? They will be enormous, too. It turns out that 95% of the world\u27s ATMs are powered by Windows XP, and there is no readily available substitute in the offing. In one example of these exorbitant costs, the price of either extending support or upgrading to another version of Windows for each of Britain\u27s major banks will be in the hundreds of millions. Costs will be similar, or perhaps even higher, worldwide. The failure to continue to patch unpatched computers will also have serious ramifications for society. Hackers will keep scouring Windows XP for flaws, holes, and vulnerabilities for many years after Microsoft ends support for its vaunted Operating System. Zero-day vulnerabilities-flaws hackers have long known about but have waited to exploit for fear that the vulnerability will be immediately patched (and could therefore only be used once or for a short time)-will now be exploitable in perpetuity. Experts have repeatedly warned that April 8 could spark a hacker feeding frenzy. Yet, ironically, those who run Windows XP pose a greater threat to others than to themselves. In the special case of governments, enterprise businesses, and financial institutions, failure to patch or migrate will expose the personal data of millions of individuals to theft, fraud, and abuse. When the wave of security breaches from unpatched machines arrives, the lawsuits against companies for failure to secure user data properly will become even more costly. There may also be immense blows to consumer confidence, leading to welfare-reducing market-wide substitutions away from e-commerce
