Davis, Mignon M DavisAbstract:Four species in four separate genera of Tineidae (Lepidoptera) are described from bat caves located in Kenya and South Africa. These include Tinea suswaensis, new species (Kenya), Phereoeca coprophaga, new species (South Africa), Monopis truncata, new species (South Africa), and Setomorpha rutella Zeller (South Africa). All species were collected on or near bat guano deposits in either the twilight or dark zones of the caves. Occasionally the moths were found resting on the walls of the cave near the guano deposits. Descriptions for each species, including the larval stage if known, are provided.

Davis, Mignon M DavisAbstract:We describe and illustrate Niditinea sabroskyi, new species, the larvae of which are associated with bird nests. We provide diagnostic information to distinguish the new species from the other two species occurring in the United States, Niditinea fuscella (Linnaeus, 1758) and Niditinea orleansella (Chambers, 1873). Although there is a considerable amount of published literature on the biology of the most common species, N. fuscella, owing to the difficulty of identifying species of Niditinea, host records are unreliable. We show that N. sabroskyi is predominantly a bird nest associate, and that specimens identified as N. fuscella and previously associated with bird nests are actually misidentified. We also summarize the larval habitat information from specimens with confirmed identifications.

This genus comprises twelve species, seven of which are described as new: two species, Philonome nigrescens sp. n. and Philonome wielgusi sp. n., from the United States; four species, Philonome albivittata sp. n., Philonome curvilineata sp. n., Philonome kawakitai sp. n., and Philonome lambdagrapha sp. n., from French Guiana; and one species, Philonome penerivifera sp. n., from Brazil. Lectotypes are designated for Philonome clemensella Chambers, 1874 and Philonome rivifera Meyrick, 1915. Partially on evidence of their head morphology and particularly from molecular evidence, the genus Philonome, previously associated with Bucculatricidae or Lyonetiidae, is reassigned to Tineidae. A possible systematic position of Philonome within Tineidae is discussed. Eurynome Chambers, 1875, is synonymized with Argyresthia Hubner, 1825 (Argyresthiidae). Photographs of adults and illustrations of genitalia, when available, are provided for all described species of Philonome and two species previously misplaced in Philonome, Argyresthia luteella (Chambers, 1875) and Elachista albella (Chambers, 1877). In addition, DNA barcodes were used for the delimitation of most species.

For ease and focus of presentation, only relationships among strongly supported, higher-level groupings are shown (see Figure 3). These groupings are: Tine: Tineidae – Eudarcia (20 taxa total); Psych = Psychidae (9 taxa total); Eudarcia (currently classified within Tineidae, 1 taxon); Compsoctena (currently classified within Eriocottidae; 1 taxon); NTD: non-tineoid Ditrysia (27 taxa total); and the non-ditrysian outgroup (not shown), which consist of Palaephatidae + Tischeriidae (5 taxa total).

Nota lepidopterologica., 2011Co-Authors: Reinhard Gaedike, Richard MallyAbstract:Cephimallota angusticostella (Zeller, 1839) and C. crassifl avella Bruand, 1851 are two Pa- laearctic Tineidae species which have been recognised as well differentiated taxa. The observation of variability in the male saccus caused doubt about the status of the two taxa and prompted us to initiate a detailed study of the male genital morphology. In this study we found a distinct variability in the shape of the saccus only in C. crassifl avella, and not in C. angusticostella. The differences in external and genital morphology are corroborated by molecular analyses (DNA barcoding). The morphological and molecular data are discussed in the context of the determined distribution of the two taxa. Zusammenfassung. Cephimallota angusticostella (Zeller, 1839) und C. crassifl avella Bruand, 1851 stellen zwei palaearktische, als gut unterscheidbar angesehene Tineidae-Arten dar. Die Beobachtung von Va ria- bilitat im mannlichen Saccus lies Zweifel zum Status der beiden Taxa aufkommen und war Anlass einer de- taillierten Untersuchung der morphologischen Strukturen der mannlichen Genitalien. Es konnte eine klare Variabilitat in der Form des Saccus nur bei C. crassifl avella gefunden werden, wahrend C. an gusti costella in dieser Hinsicht keine Variabilitat zeigt. Die auserlichen und genitalmorphologischen Unterschiede be sta- tigten sich in molekularen Analysen (DNA-Barcoding). Die morphologischen und mole kularen Er geb nisse werden im Kontext der hier ermittelten Verbreitung der zwei Taxa diskutiert.

The previous- ly unknown female genitalia of Nemapogon somchetiella Zagulajev, 1961 and Infurcitinea vanderwolfi Gaedike, 1997 are described for the fi rst time. A study of Monopis bisonella Sumpich, 2011 revealed that this taxon is a junior synonym of Monopis burmanni, 1979. New country records are given for six species.

Die drei neue Arten Monopis henderickxi sp. n. (Tineidae), Acrolepiopsis mouli sp. n. und A. infundibulosa sp. n. (Acrolepiidae) werden beschrieben, zwei neue Kombinationen bei den Tineidae: Ceratobia oxymora (Meyrick) comb. n. und Monopis barbarosi (Kocak) comb. n. werden aufgefuhrt. Trichophaga robinsoni nom. n. wird als Ersatzname fur den praokkupierten Namen T. abruptella (Wollaston, 1858) eingesetzt. Die Familie Acrolepiidae (mit A. vesperella (Zeller) und den zwei unten neu beschriebenen Arten) wird erstmals auf Madeira nachgewiesen, wie auch die drei Tineidenarten Stenoptinea cyaneimarmorella (Milliere), Ceratobia oxymora (Meyrick) und Trichophaga tapetzella (Linnaeus). Die Funde von Psychoides filicivora (Meyrick) auf Madeira sind die ersten Nachweise auserhalb der Britischen Inseln. Tinea pellionella Linnaeus, Monopis laevigella (Denis & Schiffermuller) und M. imella (Hubner) werden aus der Liste der Madeira-Lepidopteren gestrichen. On the Tineidae of the Southern Arabian Peninsula and Sudan (Lepidoptera: Tineidae).

Die bisher in der Gattung Crypsithyris stehende Art hemiphracta Meyrick, 1926 wird in die Gattung Ceratobia versetzt. Für den Oman konnten zehn Arten, für den Jemen 19 Arten und für den Sudan drei Arten als Erstfunde registriert werden. Von Perissomastix (Perissomastix) wadimaidaq Gaedike, 2009 und Perissomastix (Perissomastix) taeniaecornis (Walsingham, 1896) werden die bisher unbekannten Weibchen beschrieben. Im untersuchten Gebiet sind bisher 67 Arten nachgewiesen. Das Material enthielt vier Arten, die als neue Arten beschrieben werden: Neurothaumasia tenuipennella, Neurothaumasia tunesiella, Infurcitinea corleyi und Ateliotum larseni. Von Matratinea rufulicaput Sziraki & Szöcs, 1990 und Anomalotinea gardesanella (Hartig, 1950) werden erstmals die weiblichen Genitalien abgebildet und beschrieben, von Elatobia bugrai Kocak, 1981 werden erstmals die männlichen Genitalien abgebildet und beschrieben. Die Untersuchung der Typenserie von Euplocamus anthracinalis amanalis Osthelder, 1936 zeigte, dass es sich hierbei um ein Synonym von Euplocamus delagrangei Ragonot, 1895 handelt. The material contains four species, which are described as new species: Neurothaumasia tenuipennella, Neurothaumasia tunesiella, Infurcitinea corleyi and Ateliotum larseni. New records of Tineidae from the Maltese Islands including description of a new species Eudarcia melitensis sp. n. (Lepidoptera)

Ovum, larva, larval case, male and female genitalia and biology of the species are described and illustrated. Four species, Eudarcia derrai, Proterospastis autochthones, Phereoeca lodli and Tinea messalina are recorded for the first time from the Maltese islands. E. derrai is redescribed including description of larva, larval case, female genitalia and habitat. Eight previously recorded species from Malta are also confirmed.peer-reviewe

Nalazi Lepidoptera Tineidae, Epermeniidae i Acrolepiidae na otoku Krku (Hrvatska)

Researched species belong to 3 micromoths families Tineidae (38 species), Epermeniidae (six species) and Acrolepiidae (five species), of which six species were new for Croatian fauna of Lepidoptera. (Nemapogon falstriella (Bang-Haas, 1881), Triaxomasia caprimulgella (Stainton, 1851), Tenaga rhenania Petersen, 1962, Infucitinea finalis Gozmány, 1959, Tinea dubiella Stainton, 1859, and Digitivalva (Digitivalva) heringi (Klimesch, 1956)).U ovom članku opisano je 49 vrsta leptira utvrđenih za vrijeme instraživanja na raznim lokacijama na otoku Krku. Istraživane vrste pripadaju trima mikrolepidopterskim porodicama Tineidae (38 species), Epermeniidae (6 species) and Acrolepiidae (5 species), od kojih je šest novo za faunu Hrvatske (Nemapogon falstriella (Bang-Haas, 1881), Triaxomasia caprimulgella (Stainton, 1851), Tenaga rhenania Petersen, 1962, Infucitinea finalis Gozmány, 1959, Tinea dubiella Stainton, 1859, and Digitivalva (Digitivalva) heringi (Klimesch, 1956))
