  • истоки социально ориентированных управленческих воззрений в творчестве основоположников утопического социализма the origins of socially oriented managerial considerations in the Utopian Socialism founders creativity
    Management Science, 2017
    Co-Authors: яков ядгаров семенович
    Abstract:

The article considers the origins of socially oriented managerial considerations in the light of the Utopian Socialism founders’ creative inheritance in post manufacture period of R. Owen, K. Sen-Simon and Sh. Fourier, who laid the foundation of scientifically justified disregard to the concept of the classical political economy political liberalism and its adepts’ conclusions about business system self-stabilization under the conditions of competitive freedom limited by nothing. It was detected that R. Owen, K. Sen-Simon and Sh. Fourier socially oriented managerial considerations are the basis for so popular and well-known nowadays in the economic science the integral scientific innovations as the doctrine of society’s social control under the economy and the doctrine of socially oriented market economy. The conclusion is made that based on the Utopian Socialism managerial views the domestic managerial science will be able to overcome all the stereotypes and myths of the past in the economic policy and scientific consciousness, public mass opinion in the process of forming the socially oriented market economy.

  • John Stuart Mill: market socialist?
    'Informa UK Limited', 2020
    Co-Authors: Mccabe Helen
    Abstract:

Compared to other elements of his political and economic thought, John Stuart Mill’s claim to be ‘under the general designation of Socialist’ (Mill 1981, 239) has been largely ignored. (Though there is increasing current interest in his Socialism and his egalitarianism (e.g. Baum 1998, 1999, 2007 and 2000; McCabe 2012, 2015, 2018, 2019a and 2019b; Persky 2016 and 2019; Turner 2019a and 2019b).) Where it has been acknowledged, it has generally been denied. There are three broad exceptions to this rule, which may overlap. The first is to treat Mill’s Socialism seriously, but to say that it was short-lived, an aberration in his otherwise liberal life lasting roughly 1848-1852 (e.g. Kurer 1992), or to acknowledge it, but to deny that it really poses a challenge for Mill’s liberal credentials (e.g. Riley 1996; Miller 2003; Rawls 2001, 138-40 and 1972, 280). The second is to consider Mill’s Socialism historically, and link it to the ‘UtopianSocialism of William Thompson, Robert Owen, Henri Saint-Simon and Charles Fourier (e.g. Claeys 1987; Kurer 1992; Stafford 1998). Given the way in which ‘UtopianSocialism is often dismissed as not ‘really’ Socialism, or not a form of Socialism with contemporary relevance, this also serves to de-radicalize Mill’s ideas (see also Sarvasy 1985). The third has been to link Mill to ‘market Socialism’ (e.g. Stafford 1998, 332-34; Gray 1995, 6; Baum 2007, 104; Ryan 2007, 164; Riley 1996, 39 and 65; Medearis 2005, 137), primarily because of his commitment to competition.Mill’s ‘Socialism’ certainly involves exchanges between worker-cooperatives, and he felt that his belief that there were some advantages to competition separated him from most contemporary socialists (Mill 1965, 758-796). In this paper, I consider to what extent Mill’s ‘Socialism’ is ‘market Socialism’ or even a ‘Socialism with markets’

  • John Stuart Mill and Fourierism: ‘association’, ‘friendly rivalry’ and distributive justice
    'Informa UK Limited', 2018
    Co-Authors: Mccabe Helen
    Abstract:

John Stuart Mill’s self-description as ‘under the general designation of Socialist’ has been under-explored. It is an important feature of something else often overlooked: the importance of the French context of Mill’s thought. This article focuses on the role of Fourierism in the development of Mill’s ideas, exploring the links to Fourierism in Mill’s writing on profit-sharing; his use of the words ‘association’ and ‘friendly rivalry’; and his views concerning distributive justice. It then reconsiders his assessment of Fourierism as a desirable, workable and immediately implementable form of social reform, ultimately arguing it was Mill’s most-preferred form of ‘UtopianSocialism

  • El marxismo y el Socialismo ético
    Revista Publicando Publishing House, 2020
    Co-Authors: Llorente Renzo
    Abstract:

One of the principal legacies of analytical Marxism has been a moralization of Marxism, for some of the most influential analytical Marxists came to endorse the view that the Marxist condemnation of capitalism and defense of Socialism ultimately derive from normative ethical considerations. If we accept this new interpretation of Marx and Marxism, with its emphasis on the moral foundations of Marxist doctrine, we are forced to reconsider the relationship between Marxism and another socialist tradition for which moral commitments are also fundamental, namely ethical Socialism. If our reconsideration of this relationship avoids common misconceptions about ethical Socialism (such as the idea that it implies reformism, or that it is identical to “Utopian Socialism”), we find that the dichotomy between ethical Socialism and Marxist Socialism proves untenable, at least in the terms in which it has usually been formulated.
