    Abstract:

    In this study,we used the long-term data(1959-2008) of air temperature and soil surface temperature in Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden to investigate the inter-annual trends of the heat condition and discuss the influences on the tropical plants.The results showed that air temperature and soil temperature both exhibit an annual increasing rate of 0.013 and 0.007 ℃/a,respectively.The rates are lower than the average level in China.The inter-annual variation and extreme extent for air temperature and soil temperature both showed trends of decrease.As the temperature in Xishuangbanna is lower than other tropical regions near equator,the heat condition can definitely favor the tropical plants in the Botanical Garden.However,due to heat factor change,decreasing precipitation and other aspects might negatively affect the plants on growth and reproduction.

    Gausi augalų įvairovė botanikos soduose sąlygoja ir daugelio patogenų plitimą. Tęsiant 1925 m. pradėtus fitopatologinius tyrimus Kauno botanikos sode, šiuo metu VDU Kauno botanikos sodo Augalų patologijos mokslo sektoriaus veiklos tikslas – išanalizuoti Vytauto Didžiojo universiteto Kauno botanikos sodo ekspozicijose ir kolekcijose augančių augalų fitopatologinę būklę – augalų ligų sukėlėjus ir jų pasireiškimo sezoniškumą. Botanikos sodo Dendrologijos, Gėlininkystės, Pomologijos ir Vaistinių augalų mokslo sektorių kolekcijose ir ekspozicijose bei parke, medelyne ir karantine atliekama augalų fitopatologinės būklės stebėsena. Nustatyta 51-na augalų patogenų gentis. Pastaruosius 5–6 metus Kauno botanikos sode aptinkami ir tiriami ne tik Lietuvos klimato sąlygoms įprasti augalų patogenai, bet ir invaziniai organizmai: Erisyphe flexuosa (Peck) U. Braun & S. Takam. ant Aesculus spp., agresyvūs patogenai Phytophthora spp., pažeidžiantys Aesculus hippocastanum L., Alnus incana (L.) Moench, Acer spp., Betula pendula Roth, Salix alba L., Quercus robur L. ir Ericaceae Juss. šeimos augalusBotanical Gardens are rich in plant diversity, which leads to the spread of many pathogens. Continuing phythopathological works started in 1952 in Kaunas Botanical Garden, currently in Kaunas Botanical Garden of Vytautas Magnus University, the main aim of Plant pathology science sector – the diversity of introduced plant pathogens and study of their bioecological features under the influence of climate change and environmental pollution. In the collections expositions of Botanical Garden sectors of withinendrology, floriculture, medicinal plants and pomology science, also in the park, arboretum and quarantine, monitoring of phytopathological condition is performed. The article presents data of observations and researches carried out in 2012. Per these years were detected plants injuring pathogens of 51 genus. During the past 5-6 years in Kaunas Botanical Garden were found and investigated plant pathogens common not only for Lithuanian climatic conditions but also invasive organisms: Erisyphe flexuosa on Aesculus spp., Chalara fraxinea; aggressive plant pathogens from Phytophthora genus, injuring Aesculus hippocastanum, Alnus incana, Acer spp., Betula pendula, Salix caprea, Quercus robur and Ericaceae family plantsVytauto Didžiojo universiteta

    Straipsnyje pateikiama 1922–2012 m. Kauno botanikos sodo muziejaus kūrimo, mokomosios, edukacinės reikšmės analizė. Atlikus retrospektyvinę analizę nustatyta, kad pirmieji muziejaus eksponatai – tai Botanikos sodo įkūrėjo prof. Konstantino Regelio vaisių sėklų kolekcija, kurią vėliau (1930 m.) papildė iš Švedijos atvežta Saxifraga oppositifolia, Abies nordmanniana, iš Norvegijos – Cladonia alpestris, prof. T. Ivanausko iš Brazilijos atvežta Araucaria araucana, Anona sp. Muziejaus eksponatus pildė tuomet universitete dirbę, vėliau žymiais botanikais tapę prof. K. Grybauskas, prof. T. Ivanauskas, prof. A. Minkevičius, prof. J. Dagys. 1958 m. iš Mičiurinsko buvo gauta 254 vaškiniai vaisių muliažai. Iki šių dienų jų išliko 67. Trapa natans muziejaus eksponatai – tai į raudonąją knygą įrašytas augalas, Lietuvoje augęs iki 1889 m. Didelę pažintinę augalų paplitimo reikšmę atspindi 2 herbarinės 1888–1889 m. Kaukaze rinktų augalų knygos (autorius nežinomas). Nuo pat muziejaus kūrimo ištakų herbaras minimas kaip muziejaus dalis. Jame darbiniai katalogai išdėstyti abėcėline tvarka herbarinėse spintose pagal labiausiai paplitusią mūsų šalyje Dalle et Tore sistemą. 2009 m. duomenimis, VDU Kauno botanikos sodo muziejuje buvo 1 708 eksponatai (neįtraukiant herbarų)The first director of Kaunas Botanical Garden prof. Regelis brought from Switzerland (Saxifraga oppositifolia, Abies nordmanniana), in 1930 from Brazil (Araucaria araucana, Anona sp.) and from Norway (Cladonia alpestris). The museum exhibits were also filled by other researches of Botanical Garden: K. Grybauskas, prof. T. Ivanauskas, prof. A. Minkevičius, prof. J. Dagys. In 1958, from Michurinsk were purchased fruit moulages, among them – nowdefunct Lithuanian aquatic plant Trapa natans. Of high educational, cognitive value is the herbarium, in particular – the two herbarium books with shrubs, trees, herbaceous plant samples collected in Caucasus by unknown author in 1888-1889. The text was written in Polish supplying Latin, in some places Russian, plant names.     Abstract:

    Microscopic fungi appearance at the plant root zone often causes a decrease of plant decorativeness or even decaying. During 1989-2015, the researches on variety of microscopic fungi at the rhizosphere of ornamentai plants were carried out at Kaunas Botanical Garden of Vytautas Magnus University. A correlation among plant status, species, and environmental condition was as-sessed. Study also disclosed the decreasing variety of fungi species and increasing detection freąuency during vegetation stage of per-ennial plants {Dianthus caryophyllus 'Red Sim'). The pathogenic fungi are discovered while a plant is of a good condition (Botrytis cinerea Pers., Fusarium spp., Boeremia exigua (Desm.) Aveskamp, Gruyter & Verkley etc). The largest number of propa-gules detected at substratą of an average contamination. During 1996-2008 three groups of ornamentai plants grown at different ecological conditions were investigated: grown at the greenhouse in Kaunas Botanical Garden of Vytautas Magnus University; good status plants just imported from Netherlands; plants with injures at the overground part. In 2010 the Arecaceae plants was investigated, that were grow till 40 years out changing the substratą. During 2006-2009 at the root zone of field plants {Abies balsamea (L.) Mill., Picea sp., Thuja sp., Rhododendron spp.) with overground part injuries. During 2010-2012 the genetic investigation has iden-tified aggressive pathogen Phytophthora spp. at the root zone of Alnus glutinosa (L.)   • Diseases of medicinal plants growing in Kaunas Botanical Garden of Vytautas Magnus university

    Abstract:

    Medicinal plants in Kaunas Botanical Garden are grown since 1924. Currently there are about 350 species in the collection. Medicinal plants accumulate essential oils, bitter substances, are toxic, therefore are able to resist pathogens in there natural habitat. Plants grown in culture suffer from diseases more often. Occurrancy and spread of diseases depends on plant species, climatic conditions, season. In spring time several rust pathogens specific for this season reveals itself: Alium genus plants Puccinia sessilis, Sanguisorba minor (Phragmidium sanguisorbae). The number of diseases at summer increases: leaf spots, agents of which are Ramularia, Colletotrichum, Septoria genus fungi, injure Althaea officinalis, Convallaria majalis, Levisticum officinale, Valeriana officinalis, Oenothera biennis, Chamerion angustifolium, Salvia officinalis, Viola tricolor. During humid summer many plant species are injured by the true mildew: Anthemis nobilis (Golovinomyces orontii), Humulus lupulus (Podosphaera macularis), Machonia sp. (Erysiphe berberidis), Melissa officinalis and Mentha piperita (Neoerysiphe galeopsidis), Valeriana officinalis (Golovinomyces valerianae), Pulmonaria obscura (Golovinomyces cynoglossi), Symphytum officinale and Alchemilla vulgaris (Podosphaera aphanis). Every year rust injure various plant species: Althaea officinalis (Puccinia malvacearum), Mentha piperita (Puccinia menthae), Valeriana officinalis (Uromyces valerianae), Levisticum officinale (Puccinia bornmuelleri), Veratrum lobelianum and V. nigrum (Uromyces veratri), Angelica archangelica (Puccinia angelicae), Balsamita major (Puccinia tanaceti).     Abstract Soils in Botanical Gardens play a crucial role as they condition the growth and vegetation of huge diversity of plant species on relatively small areas. Creating favourable habitats for the planted vegetation's development frequently leads to the formation of soils with thick surface horizons with a very well developed structure, rich in organic matter and nutrients, described as hortisols. Despite significant human influence, the environments of Botanical Gardens are often considered to be seminatural enclaves in urban areas. The main objectives of the presented paper were to explain soil cover differentiation noted across the Botanical Garden of Jagiellonian University in Krakow and determine the share of natural and anthropogenic features in the studied soils. Moreover, the usefulness of the WRB system in the evaluation of the rate of anthropogenic transformation in soils was tested. All the investigated soils showed significant evidences of anthropogenic transformations. Both digging and overbuilding with allochthonous material rich in artefacts caused disturbances in soil morphology. On the other hand, formerly intensive liming and fertilizing with organic materials has resulted in the homogenization of soil chemical properties in the studied Botanical Garden. No significant relationships between the spatial differentiation of soil properties and diversity of planted vegetation or time span from the area's inclusion to the Botanical Garden were detected. The results of the bonitation of specific soil properties not considered by the classification system (e.g. thickness of soil profile overheap) were compatible with the WRB 2015 systematic position. This confirmed good definition of actual WRB criteria for soils disturbed by human activity and undergoing natural development.
