It seems that the poet is representing his care about the horrors of September 11, the sibling relationship and the intimacy with animals. This paper, first interprets the poem on the basis of Freud’s psychoanalytical theory, and then concludes that the output of this poem results from the influences of the death drive on the poet and the Castration Anxiety. College men with either average or high scores on the Fears Scale of the MMPI-2 (n = 10 men in each group) rcspmided to the Thematic Apperception Test, which was scored for Castration Anxiety. Men with high scores on the Fears Scale had higher scores on Castration Anxiety than lien with average scores on the Fears Scale. The fintlings are consistent with Freud's hypothesis about phobias.

Seduction Phantasy as the Female Version of the Castration Phantasy
2003Co-Authors: Alex RaffyAbstract:From a reading of primal phantasies, we shall offer a reinterpretation of the Castration Anxiety of the female Oedipus. Freud linked this Anxiety to the fear of losing one’s object of love. Female Castration Anxiety would more likely emanate from a phantasy of being seduced by one’s father, associated with the representation of the physical and psychic damages that this relationship may cause. This female Castration Anxiety would be reactivated during puberty because of male advances. For boys and for girls, the family romance does not only preserve the representation of the father; it also displaces the mother, which should stop being idealized when facing the other sex.
