    The "Continual Revolution" theory was the guiding thought of "the Great Leap Forward" movement,because it expounded the historical background,basic reasons,catching up with and surpassing country,fighting goals,important achieving ways,leadership,supports,working and leading ways of the movement,and some speeches in the stage thought that the theory was the guiding thought of the movement.Because of different causes,historical science circles didn't get a clear understanding of the theory.

    Abstract:

    After a positive and negative analysis, this thesis draws a new viewpoint. That the starting time of "the Great Leap Forward " movement was the Third Plenum of the Party's Eighth Central Committee held in October, 1957, not the Second National Congress of that same committee held in May, 1958, which was traditionally believed. The thesis also makes an analysis the reason that some researchers believed the old viewpoint.

It aims to address the following questions: what are the actual divergences between China and the Soviet Union on the Great Leap Forward and the People's Commune Movement? How did Mao react to the Soviet attitude? How did Mao's reaction directly connect to the Sino-Soviet split? It reveals the actual divergences between Mao and Khrushchev over the Great Leap Forward and the People's Commune Movement.
