Internet Marketing and export market growth in chile
Journal of Business Research, 2016Co-Authors: Constanza Bianchi, Shane MathewsAbstract:Previous studies show that the Internet positively influences firms’ export activities from developed markets. However, the literature is vague as to whether the Internet has an impact on the export performance of firms from emerging markets. This study tests a conceptual model that includes the effect of Internet Marketing capabilities on export market growth in an emerging market. Drawing on a cross-national sample of 204 export firms from a Latin American country (Chile), findings indicate that Internet Marketing capabilities positively influence the availability of export information, which in turn impacts the development of business network relationships and export market growth.

Internet Marketing capabilities and international market growth
International Business Review, 2016Co-Authors: Shane Mathews, Constanza Bianchi, Keith Perks, Marilyn Healy, Rumintha WickramasekeraAbstract:The Internet has been shown to facilitate elements of internationalisation such as information accumulation and network opportunities. However, there is limited understanding of how the Internet combined with Marketing capabilities drives international market growth. This study, based on a sample of 224 Australian firms, develops and tests, using structural equation modelling (SEM), a conceptual model of Internet Marketing capabilities and international market growth. Results indicate that firms deploying Internet Marketing capabilities will benefit due to the reduction of information uncertainty and increased capacity to develop international network capabilities. Moreover, Internet Marketing capabilities indirectly lead to international market growth when the firm has a high level of international strategic orientation and international network capabilities. Overall, Internet Marketing capabilities enhance the firm's ability to generate other internal capabilities within the firm, which in turn have a positive impact on the international market growth of the firm.

An Internet Marketing adoption framework for small business enterprises
2010Co-Authors: Noor Fadhiha Mokhtar, Stephen BurgessAbstract:Small business enterprises are the backbone of economic growth and innovation. The existence of the Internet provides opportunities for these enterprises to gain the benefits of Information and Communication Technologies in their business operations. However, small business enterprises often face a variety of challenges such as limited financial resources, a shortage of skilled workers, and inadequate infrastructure (such as communication connectivity or electricity supply particularly in rural areas) in adopting new technology in their business operations. Many small business enterprises are not engaged with appropriate business strategies which lead to informal and mixed Marketing approaches in their businesses. This paper proposes an Internet Marketing adoption framework for small business enterprises. The proposed framework of Internet Marketing would be incorporated as part of the business strategies for small business enterprises in order to assist owners and managers (who are often poor planners). This paper presents a review of the main indicators in the proposed framework, which are e-readiness, aims and strategies (which will lead to the Internet Marketing approach by small business enterprises), the Internet Marketing approach and the evaluation of the Internet Marketing performance. The 4C’s (customer, communication, convenience, and cost) (Smith, 2003) are the factors that will be considered while implementing the Internet Marketing approach for small business enterprises. These 4C’s are the ‘online’ extension of basic Marketing principles. The Internet Marketing performance will be evaluated to indicate whether the Internet Marketing approach contributes to the success of the businesses or vice-versa.
