Project time management risk assessment tool for software development project
2009Co-Authors: Abdullahi Mohamud SharifAbstract:Risk assessment is the determination of quantitative or qualitative value of risk related to a concrete situation and a recognized threat and it is a step in a risk management process. The purpose of this study is to study the project time management risk conditions for software development projects, and to develop a prototype system. While conducting this project, the important question that the project focuses is how the risks in project time management for Small and Medium Software Development Projects (SMSDP) can be assessed, treated, and monitored systematically?. Also analyse of risk factors in SMSDP and risk assessment parameters from different resources are being conducted. So having a system that collects, categorizes, prioritizes, and provides treatment and monitoring risks can help project managers and project teams to handle the project time risks. However, the required methodology for this project development began from initial planning, an analysis, design, development of a prototype, and finally implementation and Application testing of the system was executed. Furthefinore, evolutionary prototype is chosen as the system development methodology for this project. Finally, a prototype of the proposed system that can help stakeholders, project managers, and project team members to identify, assess, treat, and monitor project risks was developed and deployed by using Oracle Application Express version 3.2 as a web page developer tool and Oracle Database 11g as data storage Application. Finally, this project is developed to achieve the objective of improving the risk assessment tool for project time management in small medium size software development projects.

Cloud Computing Using Oracle Application Express: Rapidly develop internet facing business Applications accessible anywhere and anytime
2015Co-Authors: Riaz AhmedAbstract:If someone had asked me to write this book two decades ago, I would have simply refused the suggestion - not because I couldn't do so, but because of the mountain of code necessary to create the Application along with its menus, forms, reports, and so on. Thanks to the appearance of GUIs and RAD. The load of overburdened developers has not only reduced, but has also enabled Application development to be easily demonstrated in book form. Oracle Application Express is a unique development platform that helps you develop cloud-based Applications rapidly. In the previous three editions of my book (that focused on beginners), I practically demonstrated almost every significant feature of Oracle APEX; this book is an attempt to take my readers to the next level with some more useful stuff. You might be one of those readers who is already familiar with Oracle APEX having some experience in developing simple Applications but who lacks the required knowledge that is needed to develop a comprehensive system. In this book you will bridge this gap by developing a complete general ledger accounting system named The Cloud Accountant which will be accessible through a variety of devices including desktops, laptops, and the latest smartphones. Besides the development of a functional Application (which you can deploy in your organization or even in other organizations to earn some handsome bucks), the book demonstrates many new techniques to further enhance your APEX development skills. This book is also ideal for those who have been developing Applications in Oracle Forms, and now wish to get their feet wet in the world of web development using their existing expertise. If you know what Oracle Application Express is, and are also comfortable with SQL and PL/SQL, then grab this book to learn something that is not available anywhere else. If you are a novice, then you are encouraged to read my book Oracle Application Express 5 For Beginners (ISBN-13: 978-1-512-00330-7).

Computerized welding process selection and parameter determination
2010Co-Authors: A. Aregia, Tarek AbdelhadiAbstract:Welding is a materials joining process in which two or more parts are coalesced at their contacting surfaces by a suitable Application of heat and/or pressure. In today technology, welding is an important process in manufacture and assembly project. There is a need for welding expertise to get the best welding qualities. For small and medium industry, employing a welding expert is quite costly. The purpose of this study is to design and develop an expert system to select suitable welding process and determining the optimum welding parameters. While conducting this project, the important question that the project focused on was how an effective and efficient computerized system can help in selecting the welding process and determine process selection parameters. Also an exclusive research was done to collect data about the arc and other welding processes parameters, designing database for the welding processes, welding parameters, and work-pieces characteristics related to the parameters of welding process, and also an algorithms was developed to find out the most suitable welding process and its parameters related to a specific work-piece. So having an expert system that helps in selecting the suitable welding process and determine process parameters can help industries and welders to set the welding process time, less expensive and extensive clerical work, and provide reliable and consistent welding processes. However, the required methodology for this project development began from initial planning, an analysis, design, development of a prototype, and finally implementation and Application testing of the system was executed. Farther more, evolutionary prototype is chosen as the system development methodology for this project. On the other hand, a prototype of the proposed system was developed and deployed by using Oracle Application Express version 3.2 as a web page developer tool and Oracle Database 11g as data storage Application. Finally, this project is developed to achieve the objective of improving the welding processes selections by using expert system, which is a computer program with reasoning capabilities to solve a particular problem.

ISEC - An Application synopsis tool for database Applications developed using Oracle Application Express
Proceedings of the 3rd India software engineering conference on India software engineering conference - ISEC '10, 2010Co-Authors: Sadhwi Srinivas, Abhishek Biswas, Jagannathan SrinivasanAbstract:For any Application, it is desirable to have an Application synopsis tool that minimizes efficiency lags, and improves developer's productivity by presenting an overview of the Application being developed. In this paper, we consider the problem of deriving synopsis of a database-centric Application developed using Oracle Application Express (APEX), a rapid Application development tool. Specifically, we have developed an Application Synopsis tool that complements Oracle APEX 3.2 views and Application reports capability by including i) An Application Page Branching Tree, ii) An Application Schema Object Dependency Viewer, and iii) Application Page-Composition and Page-Schema-Object Reference Charts. Furthermore, the tool links directly with the corresponding APEX Application and page summaries thereby allowing seamless use of combined capabilities in analyzing an Application. The usability study conducted with three Applications, namely, a magazine subscriber management system (an Application under development), a tuberculosis treatment management system (an Application in use in trial mode), and a configurable patient services accounting system (an Application already operational at multiple hospital sites and evolving), demonstrate the benefits of having such a tool.

COMAD - Analysis and Modeling of Evolving Database-centric Web Applications.
2010Co-Authors: S. V. Madhava Krishna, Abhishek Biswas, Satyadeep Karnati, Jagannathan SrinivasanAbstract:Database-centric web Applications tend to evolve over time. However, there are no comprehensive tools to analyze and present the synopsis of changes for such Applications. In this paper, we address the problem of analyzing an evolving Application and presenting the synopsis of changes, which can be recursively drilled down in an interactive manner. Specifically, we analyze two versions of an Application, each constituting of a hierarchy of pages, page regions, and region items, and model the synopsis of changes. In addition to analyzing the content of pages, our synopsis generation algorithm takes into account, the changes resulting from page layouts, page branching transitions, and page schema dependencies. Furthermore, the region pair-wise similarity is extended to show m : n evolution as well, which is common due to clone and edit operations typically employed during development. We have developed region similarity measures to aid the analysis and a bottom-up approach is used to label the regions and the container pages. We have used this approach to implement an Evolving Application Synopsis Tool (EAST), which can analyze database-centric web Applications built using Oracle Application Express Tool. An experimental study done with four deployed Applications and one beta version of Application demonstrate the usefulness of our approach.
