  • studies on parasitic watermolds of kumaun himalaya host range of achlya americana humphrey on certain temperate fish
    Mycoses, 2009
    Co-Authors: R. D. Khulbe, Sushil Chandra Sati
    Abstract:

Summary: Achlya americana Humphrey was found as a naturally occuring parasite of Carassius auratus L. for the first time. The pathogen extended its host range on six other cold water fish of Kumaun viz., Cyprinus carpio var. communis L., Puntius conchonius Ham., P. ticto Ham., Schizothorax plagiostomus Heckel, S. richardsoni Gray & Hard. and Tor tor Ham., by artificial inoculation experiments under the controlled laboratory conditions whereas Nemacheilus rupicola Mc Cle. was found immune to this fungus.

  • Infection Ability of Watermolds in Some Temperate Fishes of Himalaya, India
    Mycoses, 2009
    Co-Authors: R. D. Khulbe
    Abstract:

Summary: Infection ability tests of four species of the Saprolegniales viz., Brevileg-nia subclavata Couch, Geolegnia inflata Coker & Braxton, Protoachlya oryzae Khulbe and Scoliolegnia centrica Khulbe were made by artificial inoculation experiments. Except Geolegnia inflata, all the three species parasitized the test fishes (Ca-rassius auratus L., Puntius conchonius Ham., P. ticto Ham. and Nemacheilus rupi-cola). Two chemicals, namely boric acid and potassium permanganate were effective at 0.1 to 0.15 M concentrations against parasitic watermolds.

  • Biochemical changes induced by dimethoate (Rogor 30% EC) in the gills of fresh water fish Puntius ticto (Hamilton)
Journal of ecology and the natural environment, 2012
    Co-Authors: R M Ganeshwade
    Abstract:

The freshwater fish Puntius ticto was exposed to lethal (5.012 ppm) and sublethal (2.506 and 1.253 ppm) concentrations of dimethoate for 96 h and 60 days, respectively. Biochemical changes in the gills were analyzed after exposure period. Exposure of fish to lethal and two sublethal concentration of dimethoate showed decreased in the protein content in the gills after 60 days exposure. As compared to lethal exposure, significant change in the protein content was observed during the sublethal exposure. Glycogen, cholesterol and ascorbic acid contents in the gills also decreased after exposure.   Key words:  Lethal and sublethal toxicity, dimethoate, Puntius ticto, biochemical changes.

  • HISTOPATHOLOGICAL CHANGES IN THE OVARY OF FRESHWATER FISH Puntius TICTO (HAM) UNDER DIMETHOATE TOXICITY
    2013
    Co-Authors: Ganeshwade Raju Marutirao
    Abstract:

Histopathological changes induced by dimethoate on the ovary of Puntius ticto (Ham) were studied. Puntius ticto a freshwater fish exposed to lethal (5.012ppm) and two sublethal (2.506 and 1.253ppm) concentration of dimethoate for acute (four days) and chronic (sixty days) exposure. After lethal exposure ovary showed significant changes. There was partial disruption of ovarian follicles and vaculation in cytoplasm of germinal cells. The interfollicular connective tissue was damaged. The cytomorphological structure of ovarian follicles got deformed and elongated, losing their typical configuration. Necrosis and fibrosis in connective tissue and damage to yolk vesicles of maturing oocytes was observed. Degenerative oocytes became phagocytic and exhibited atresia. Chronic exposure results also shows significant changes in the ovary and are dose dependent
