    Abstract:

    This paper presents achieved results by measuring of force load tool by turning of nickel alloy Inconel 718 with Sintered Carbide with progressive chip breaker designed by Pramet Tools Ltd. Company and with cutting ceramics inserts produced by Greenleaf Company. Authors deal with studying of force load which is exposed the cutting tool by conditions, when are achieved limit values in view of tool wear. In the end it is carried out a comparison of intensity of components of cutting force for these limit conditions. Very interesting is finding that by machining with worst cutting conditions the force load on insert cutting edge is smaller than by machining with best cutting parameters. This fact can be reasoned by the fact that at higher cutting conditions we are getting into the area of HSC machining for Inconel 718 and therefore the cutting forces are smaller. There is more heat produced in cutting zone. This influence undesirably Sintered Carbide during cutting process. Vice versa, high temperature influences positive cutting with cutting ceramics, as show simultaneously carrying experiments.

The most important part of new discovery is successfully realized experiment. Every experiment has inputs and outputs. Inputs are defined before experiment and they are accurately determined and described. Outputs have to be measured and described after experiment. It is very difficult to describe and express parameters that are base of experiments. Tested parameters and theirs dependencies are very often described by means of graphs, tables or definitions. Lot of parameters and their dependencies in engineering practice are not described by means of formula. Very important and often used standard ISO in engineering practice is standard ISO 3685. This standard includes characteristics for various cutting materials. The main part of this standard is T-vc dependence for cutting materials. One of the cutting materials contained in standard ISO 3685 is Sintered Carbide. There are instructions obtained in standard ISO 3685 for creation of T-vc dependence. The article describes differences between T-vc dependence for Sintered Carbide and standard ISO 3685.

    Quality and accuracy in engineering is described by means of standards ISO. One of these standards is standard ISO 3685. The main part of this standard is T-vc dependence for various cutting materials. Standard ISO 3685 contains main properties and characteristics of three most important cutting materials those are used in engineering practice. These cutting materials are used for cutting tools made of high speed steel, cutting ceramic and Sintered Carbide. The standard ISO 3685 prescribes instructions to creation of T-vc dependence for defined cutting materials. Paper describes process how to define T-vc dependence for cutting tools made of high speed steel, cutting ceramic and Sintered Carbide, because were found deficiencies in valid standard ISO 3685.

The Standard ISO 3685 contains main properties and characteristics for three most important cutting materials those are used in engineering practice.   • Carbon-based layers for mechanical machining of wood-based materials

    Abstract:

    In the machining processes of wood-based materials, especially those of laminated chipboards, one of the most important features is the durability of the machining tool. This work presents the results of an investigation on the properties of Sintered Carbide tools modified using carbon and composite (carbon- and titanium-based) layers. The machining edges were examined before and after the modification processes. Coatings were applied under operating conditions using the spindle molder. As a result of the investigation, blunt characteristics as a function of the amount of machined material as well as characteristic wear profiles registered after the tests are described. The usefulness of each modification process was specified based on wear resistance criteria. Obtained investigation results prove the possibility to apply carbon-based coatings in mechanical machining of wood-based materials, in particular, in the treatment of non-laminated chipboards.

  • Measurement and Analysis of Vibration in the Milling Process of Sintered Carbide Workpiece

    Abstract:

    This study aims at preliminary evaluation of vibration produced in the milling of Sintered Carbide with Fraisa's Sphero-CVD tool. The main objective of the work is to analyze selected qualitative and quantitative relationships between machining conditions and vibration parameters in the machining of Sintered Carbide grade T10MG. The effects of feed rate, depth of cut and width of cut on the above-mentioned functional relationships are examined. Experimental tests are carried out on a DMU65MonoBlock numerically controlled machine tool with the use of 3-axis accelerometers from PCB PIEZOELECTRONICS and the LMS SCADAS Mobile SCM 05 system from Siemens. The tests are performed in the steady-state machining conditions. Prior to milling, hardness of the tested material is determined. Hardness measurements of Sintered Carbide grade T10MG are made by the Vickers method. Results are analyzed with the LMS Test. Lab Signature Acquisition measurement system. Experimental results are discussed and presented in plots and tables.

    Abstract:

    This study investigates the surface of a Sintered Carbide specimen after milling. The workpiece surface quality as a function of variable machining variables (ap, ae, vf, ft) is examined. The milling process is performed on a Sintered Carbide grade T10MG rectangular plate with the dimensions 5×40×170 mm using the Sphero-CVD ball nose end mill (Ø6) from FRAISA. Functional relations between workpiece surface stereometry and machining variables are described. It is demonstrated that 3D surface roughness parameters greatly depend on such variables as feed per tooth, depth of cut and width of cut. Obtained surfaces are processed and analyzed with the Alicona InfiniteFocus measurement system. Experimental results are discussed and presented in the form of plots and tables.

    Abstract:

    The paper critically investigates about the influence of emulsion mist cooling on the conditions of heat absorption from the machining zone. The cooling conditions under which the total number of drops falling on the hot surfaces of the machining zone evaporate have been studied. The state of cutting wedges made of P25 Sintered Carbide after finish turning of two-phase pearlite-ferrite AISI 1045 steel with the presence of an anti-seizure and anti-wear additive has been subjected to scanning inspection. In the contact area, the content of surface active compounds is much larger as compared to the areas beyond the contact. It has been observed that the concentration of active compounds on the surface grows by about three times. This phenomena provides confirmatory evidences of favourable machining conditions.

    Abstract:

    The objective of the investigation was analysis of the wear of milling cutters made of Sintered Carbide and of boron nitride. The article presents the life period of the cutting edges and describes industrial conditions of the applicability of tools made of the materials under investigation. Tests have been performed on modern toroidal and ball-end mill cutters. The study has been performed within a production facility in the technology of high speed machining of 55NiCrMoV6 and X153CrMoV12 hardened steel. The analysed cutting speed is a parameter which significantly influences the intensity of heat generated in the cutting zone. Due to the wear characteristics, two areas of applicability of the analysed tools have been distinguished. For vc ≤ 300 m/min, Sintered Carbide edges are recommended; for vc > 500 m/min, boron nitride edges. For 300 ≤ vc ≤ 500 m/min, a transition area has been observed.     Abstract:

    The objective of the investigation was to identify microhardness of surface integrity (SI) after turning with wedges of coated Sintered Carbide. SI is important in determining corrosion resistance, and also in fatigue crack initiation. The investigation included microhardness analyses in dry and wet machining of duplex stainless steel. The microhardness of SI for various cutting speeds was compared. It has been shown that wet cutting leads to the decrease of SI hardening depth, while increasing the rounded cutting edge radius of the wedge increases the maximum microhardness values and the hardening depth. An infinite focus measurement machine has been used for the rounded cutting edge radius analysis. The study has been performed within a production facility during the production of electric motor parts and deep-well pumps as well as explosively cladded sheets.
