    Abstract:

    Fourteen species of Anastatus (Anastatus) Motschulsky, 1859 (Hymenoptera: Eupelmidae) are treated from China, of which A. (Anastatus) flavaeratus Peng and Tang n. sp. and A. (Anastatus) pariliquadrus Peng and Tang n. sp. are described based on brachypterous females. Two new synonyms are proposed, A. flavipes Sheng and Wang, 1997 under A. japonicus Ashmead, 1904 n. syn., and A. huangi Sheng and Yu, 1998 under A. gastropachae Ashmead, 1904 n. syn. The species previously reported from China under the name A. acherontiae Narayanan, Subba Rao and Ramachandra, 1960 is newly identified as Anastatus echidna (Motschulsky, 1863). Anastatus colemani Crawford, 1912, is excluded from the Chinese mainland fauna, and A. dendrolimus Kim and Pak, 1965, A. kashmirensis Mathur, 1956, and A. tenuipes Bolivar y Pieltain, 1925 are excluded from the Chinese fauna. Two previously recorded extralimital species, A. bifasciatus (Geoffroy, 1785) and A. colemani are treated as possibly present in China even though their presence was not confirmed and the records likely are based on misidentifications. Anastatus ramakrishnai (Mani, 1935), originally described from India, is compared with A. dexingensis Sheng and Wang, 1997 and A. formosanus Crawford, 1913, with the suggestion that the name could be synonymous with one of the latter two names. The males of nine species and females of all Anastatus species recognised from China are keyed, diagnosed, and illustrated. Information on recorded hosts and distribution is summarised for all the species.

    Abstract:

    Both sexes of Anastatus mantoidae Motschulsky, the type species of Anastatus Motschulsky, 1859, and females of Anastatus echidna (Motschulsky), the type species of Cacotropia Motschulsky, 1863, the oldest junior synonym of Anastatus (Hymenoptera: Eupelmidae: Eupelminae), are redescribed and illustrated based on original type material and compared to more recently collected material. Anastatus mantoidae, previously known only from Sri Lanka, is newly reported from Indonesia (Java and Sumatra) and Thailand, and a very similar species, A. motschulskyi n. sp., is newly described based on both sexes from Malaysia (Sabah) and Thailand and compared to A. mantoidae. Anastatus echidna, also originally known only from Sri Lanka, is newly reported from India, Pakistan and Thailand, and potential synonymy of one or both of Anastatus amarus (Subba Rao, 1957) and Anastatus acherontiae Narayanan, Subba Rao Ramachandra Rao, 1960, under A. echidna is discussed.

    Abstract:

    Six species of Anastatus Motschulsky , 1859 (Hymenoptera: Eupelmidae) were described from China in Chinese by J.K. Sheng and coauthors in 1997 and 1998: A. dexingensis, A. flavipes, A. fulloi, A. huangi, A. meilingensis and A. shichengensis . This represents almost half the species of Anastatus recorded from China, but no keys were given to differentiate the species and the original descriptions included only simple line drawings to illustrate the species. Because recognition of these species is critical prior to clarifying the Anastatus fauna of China and of the eastern Palaearctic and Oriental regions, we have redescribed the six species in detail in English based on original type material, illustrating the species through macrophotography of type material and providing a key to differentiate females of the species.

    Anastatus eurycanthae Gibson n. sp. (Eupelmidae: Eupelminae) is newly described as an egg parasitoid of Eurycantha calcarata Lucas (Phasmida: Phasmatidae), an important pest of oil palm in Papua New Guinea. Both sexes are described and illustrated by macrophotography and scanning electron microscopy. Basic biological data are provided on the parasitoid. Six species are transferred from A. (Anastatus) Motschulsky to other genera, namely Eupelmus tennysoni Girault (1921) revived comb., Eupelmus (Eupelmus) darwini (Girault 1915) n. comb., Reikosiella (Hirticauda) pasteuri (Girault 1915) n. comb., R. (Hirticauda) tricolor (Girault 1915) n. comb., Tineobius (Tineobius) adamsi (Yoshimoto & Ishii 1965) n. comb., and T. (Tineobius) crassipes (Yoshimoto & Ishii 1965) n. comb.

    Abstract:

    The action of parasitoid Anastatus sp. on eggs of D. rosacordis , common for defoliating “pequizeiro” ( Caryocar brasiliense Cambess), was studied on eggs collected in the field and eggs obtained in laboratory. Eggs were collected in Hidrolândia, Senador Canedo and Goiânia, Goias, Brazil. In these regions, D. rosacordis shows two generations: September and December. To obtain eggs, a D. rosacordis colony was maintained on pequi leaves over the egg mass obtained in the laboratory and kept under controlled temperature, relative humidity and photoperiod. Among 1,346 eggs obtained in laboratory conditions, 44.3% were parasitized, 40.2% were viable and 15.4 % were not viable. From 697 eggs collected in the field, 25.5% were parasitized, 58.9% were viable and 15.6% were not viable. Adult emergency was observed among 83,4% of parasitized eggs. These data suggest the possibility of using this parasitoid for the pequi caterpillar control, which also causes serious damage on Eucalyptus sp., mainly in Minas Gerais, Brazil. Dos 697 coletados no campo, 25,5% estavam parasitados, 58,9% foram viáveis e 15,6% não viáveis. Entre os ovos parasitados foram observadas 83,4% de emergência dos adultos do parasitóide.     [EN] Data on Eupelmus Dalman, additional to that presented in Askew & Nieves-Aldrey (2000), are given here, including the location of type material of three species described by C. Bolívar. Eupelmus hungaricus Erdös is transferred to Reikosiella (n. comb.). Representation of other genera of Eupelminae in the Iberian Peninsula and Canary Islands is reviewed (Anastatus 9 spp., Arachnophaga 2 spp., Brasema 1 sp., Calymmochilus 3 spp., Merostenus 1 sp.) and keys to species are given. Three species are described as new, Anastatus maculosus Askew, A. magnoculus Askew and Calymmochilus delphinus Askew.[ES] Se aportan datos del género Eupelmus Dalman adicionales a los presentados por Askew y Nieves-Aldrey (2000), incluyendo la localización de material tipo de tres especies descritas por C.
