Pure Bilateral Lambdoid and Posterior Sagittal Synostosis (Mercedes-Benz Syndrome): Case Report and Literature Review.

It has been named “Mercedes−Benz Syndrome” (MBS) because of the bone ridges that resemble the Mercedes−Benz logo. The typical head shape is usually described as anterior turricephaly combined with mild brachycephaly. We describe a case of pure MBS without involvement of other sutures. Since we believe that MBS is a different pathology when other sutures are involved, we will discuss our case with a review of the literature, including all reported cases of bilateral lambdoid and posterior sagittal synostosis with no other sutures involved but sagittal and bilateral lambdoid. Case Description A 3-month-old female baby came to our attention because of a turrycephalic appearance of the head. Findings of the neurologic examination were unremarkable. Computed tomography scan showed premature fusion of posterior third of sagittal suture and bilateral lambdoid suture. Magnetic resonance imaging did not show relevant intracranial abnormalities. She underwent sagittal decompression extended posteriorly below the lambdoid suture combined with biparietal decompression to obtain expansion of both parieto-frontal bones and posterior fossa. Post-operative course was uneventful. Follow-up at 3 months showed a good aesthetic result, and results of the neurologic examination were unremarkable. Conclusions Pure MBS is a rare condition that unlike other multisutural complex craniosynostosis is rarely associated with genetic syndromes, has a low rate of associated intracranial anomalies, and has less need for more skull-remodeling surgery. The choice of the most suitable surgical procedure must be tailored on the patient, considering preoperative head appearance and eventually associated anomalies.

This entity has been reported both in the genetics literature as craniofacial dyssynostosis and in the surgical literature as "Mercedes Benz" syndrome. Craniofacial dyssynostosis was first described in 1976 by Dr. Neuhauser when he presented a series of seven patients with synostosis of the sagittal and lambdoid sutures, short stature, and developmental delay. Over the past 30 years nine additional patients with craniofacial dyssynostosis have been reported in the literature adding to the growing evidence for a distinct craniosynostosis syndrome. The term "Mercedes Benz" syndrome was coined by Moore et al. in 1998 due to the characteristic appearance of the fused sutures on three-dimensional CT imaging. In contrast to the aforementioned reported cases of craniofacial dyssynostosis, all three patients had normal development. Recently, there have been several case reports of patients with BLSS and distinct chromosomal anomalies. These findings suggest that BLSS is a heterogeneous disorder perhaps with syndromic, chromosomal, and isolated forms. In this manuscript we will present the largest series of patients with BLSS and review clinical, CT, and molecular findings.

Análisis de la aplicación del nuevo régimen MYPE tributario en una empresa del rubro automotriz en el distrito de Surquillo 2017

La empresa se dedica al servicio de planchado y pintura automotriz para diferentes marcas como Mercedes Benz, Jeep, Mazda, Suzuki y Chevrolet con un volumen de producción mensual de 90 unidades atendidas, y una facturación aproximada de 280,000 soles mensuales. El sistema tributario ha tenido innumerables cambios, y la actividad tributaria con el tiempo ha adquirido mayor complejidad para las empresas, lo cual ha generado contingencias que se van mostrando en las fiscalizaciones o auditorías realizadas por la Superintendencia Nacional Tributaria (SUNAT), las mismas que, en su mayoría desprenden reparos tributarios, solicitudes de fraccionamiento, refinanciamientos, y en otros casos omisiones de pagos y multas; generando la determinación de un mayor impuesto y por ende generan un impacto económico y financiero en las empresas. En las últimas décadas en el Perú, el parque automotor se ha incrementado considerablemente dando lugar a que grandes compañías internacionales apuesten por invertir en marcas de automóviles como japonesas, chinas además de coreanas, este hecho genera que las entidades financieras ofrezcan productos atractivos para la adquisición de automóviles de primer uso, generando además el servicio de post – venta; que abarca mecánica, planchado, pintura y lavado. El volumen mensual de la empresa genera un importe considerable de impuesto a la renta mensual, con lo cual el beneficio de acogerse al Nuevo Régimen MYPE Tributario favorece el flujo de caja para cubrir las necesidades inmediatas diarias propias del servicio. El régimen MYPE Tributario está especialmente creado para la micro y pequeña empresa, personas naturales y jurídicas, sucesiones indivisas y sociedades conyugales domiciliadas en el país con naturaleza empresarial o de negocio; con la finalidad de facilitar escenarios sencillos para cumplimiento de sus obligaciones tributarias. Es un régimen dirigido especialmente a las micro y pequeñas empresas, cuyos ingresos anuales no superen los 1700 UIT. In the last decade in Peru, the automotive fleet has increased considerably, leading large international companies to invest in automotive brands such as Japanese, Chinese and Korean, this fact generates that financial entities offer attractive products for the acquisition of first-use cars, also generating the aftersales service; covering mechanics, ironing, painting and washing The monthly volume of the company generates a considerable amount of tax on monthly income, with which the benefit of benefiting from the New Tax MYPE Regime favors the cash flow to cover the immediate needs of the service. impact of properties of vegetable oil bio diesel ethanol and n butanol on the combustion and emissions of turbocharged hddi diesel engine operating under steady and transient conditions
Fuel, 2015Co-Authors: D C Rakopoulos, C D Rakopoulos, E G GiakoumisAbstract:The present work evaluates the impact of properties of four very common bio-fuels, viz. vegetable oil (cottonseed), or its derived (methyl ester) bio-diesel, or ethanol, or n-butanol, in blends of various proportions with diesel fuel, on the combustion and exhaust emissions of a fully instrumented, six-cylinder, four-stroke, heavy-duty direct injection (HDDI), ‘Mercedes-Benz’ bus diesel engine, bearing a waste-gate turbocharger with after-cooler, running under steady and transient conditions. Under steady-state operation, exhaust smoke, nitrogen oxides (NOx), carbon monoxide (CO), and total unburned hydrocarbons (HC) were measured and compared with those of the baseline operation (with neat diesel fuel) and among themselves. Fuel injection, combustion chamber pressure, and heat release rate (HRR) diagrams revealed interesting features of the combustion mechanisms. These results and the different physical and chemical properties of those bio-fuels are used to aid the interpretation of the observed engine behavior. As regards the transient engine operation, measurements for three accelerations tests were examined with the engine fueled on bio-diesel or n-butanol diesel fuel blends. The test bed was complemented with fast response instruments to capture the development of key engine and turbocharger variables, depicted in analytical diagrams, using ultra-fast response instrumentation for the instantaneous measurements of the exhaust NO and smoke opacity. Again, these results and the different physical and chemical properties of bio-fuels are used to aid the interpretation of the engine behavior. Finally, a comparison is made for the influence of bio-fuels properties (bio-diesel and n-butanol) on the NOx and smoke emissions between steady-state and transient operating conditions, under the recognition of the different non-fuel factors affecting the transient operating schedules.

Fuel, 2012Co-Authors: D C RakopoulosAbstract:Abstract The present work evaluates the effects of using blends of diesel fuel with cottonseed or sunflower oils and their (methyl ester) bio-diesel in proportions of 10% and 20% (by vol.), on the combustion and emissions behavior of a fully instrumented, six-cylinder, turbocharged and after-cooled, heavy-duty, direct injection (DI), ‘Mercedes-Benz’ diesel engine. Combustion chamber and fuel injection pressure diagrams are obtained at two speeds and three loads. A heat release analysis of the experimentally obtained cylinder pressure diagrams is developed and used. Plots of histories in the combustion chamber of the heat release rate and temperatures, and the variation of interesting quantities such as maximum cylinder pressures and their rates, maximum cylinder temperatures and ignition delays reveal some interesting features, which shed light into the combustion mechanism and emissions formation when using these bio-fuels. The analysis results, together with the differing physical and chemical properties of these bio-fuels against those for the diesel fuel, which constitutes the ‘baseline’ fuel, aid the correct interpretation of the basic regulated emissions of smoke and nitrogen oxides measured at the engine exhaust.

The series of tests are conducted using each of the above blends, with the engine working at two speeds and three loads. Fuel consumption, exhaust smokiness and exhaust regulated gas emissions such as nitrogen oxides (NO x ), carbon monoxide (CO) and total unburned hydrocarbons (HC) are measured. With reference to the corresponding neat diesel fuel operation, the vegetable oil blends show reduction of emitted smoke with slight increase of NO x and effectively unaffected thermal efficiency. Theoretical aspects of diesel engine combustion, combined with the very widely differing physical and chemical properties of the vegetable oils against those for the diesel fuel, aid to the correct interpretation of the observed engine behavior.

Combustion chamber and fuel injection pressure diagrams are obtained at two speeds and three loads using a developed, high-speed, data acquisition and processing system. A heat release analysis of the experimentally obtained cylinder pressure diagrams is developed and used. Plots of histories in the combustion chamber of the heat release rate and temperatures reveal some interesting features, which shed light into the combustion mechanism when using these promising bio-fuels that can be derived from biomass (bio-ethanol and bio-butanol). The key results are that with the use of these bio-fuels blends, fuel injection pressure diagrams are very slightly displaced (delayed), ignition delay is increased, maximum cylinder pressures are slightly reduced and cylinder temperatures are reduced during the first part of combustion. These results, combined with the differing physical and chemical properties of the ethanol and n -butanol against those for the diesel fuel, which constitutes the baseline fuel, aid the correct interpretation of the observed engine behavior performance- and emissions-wise.

The tests are conducted using each of the above fuel blends, with the engine working at two speeds and three loads. Fuel consumption, exhaust smokiness and exhaust regulated gas emissions such as nitrogen oxides, carbon monoxide and total unburned hydrocarbons are measured. The differences in the measured performance and exhaust emissions of the two butanol/diesel fuel blends from the baseline operation of the engine, i.e. when working with neat diesel fuel, are determined and compared. It is revealed that this fuel, which can be produced from biomass (bio-butanol), is a very promising bio-fuel for diesel engines. The differing physical and chemical properties of n-butanol against those for the diesel fuel, aided by sample cylinder pressure and heat release rate diagrams, are used to interpret the observed engine behavior.

TRATAMIENTO SILVICULTURAL, MONITOREO Y REPOBLACIÓN CON IGUANA (Iguana iguana) EN BOSQUE DE GALERÍA DE LA UNIDAD PRODUCTIVA HACIENDA LAS MERCEDES SUR DEL LAGO XOLOTLAN
'Universidad Nacional Agraria la Molina', 2011Co-Authors: Reyes Francisco, Vindell Karen, Hernández Belkys, Tapia EmelinaAbstract:El estudio fue realizado en la Unidad Productiva “Hacienda Las Mercedes” patrimonio de la Universidad Nacional Agraria (UNA). El objetivo fue contribuir a la conservación del Bosque de Galería mediante la aplicación del tratamiento silvicultural de enriquecimiento y repoblación con la especie Iguana iguana. La metodología se desarrolló iniciando con una visita de reconocimiento a La ribera de la Presa Los Sábalos (sitio de la plantación forestal) y a la ribera Presa Las Mercedes (sitio para la repoblación con iguanas). El experimento de de repoblación forestal inicio con el establecimiento de seis parcelas con especies forestales (Pithecellobium saman (jacq) Bent, Swietenia humilis Zucc, Guazuma ulmifolia Lam, Calycophyllum candidissimum (Vahl) DC, Albizzia caribeae (Urb).Bamp;R y Dalbergia retusa Hemsl) en un área de 0.22 ha. Dentro de cada parcela se ubicó una parcela útil (16 individuos) para realizar el levantamiento de datos dasométricos (altura cm, diámetro basal mm y sobrevivencia) y análisis estadístico. Luego se identificaron las especies vegetales presentes en la plantación y se monitoreo (caracterización del sitio) de Iguana iguana (Iguana verde) y Ctenosaura similis (Garrobo negro también conocida como iguana rayada), para lo cual se establecieron seis transeptos (156 m, 200 m, 209 m, 212 m, 190 m y 198 m) en 4.9 ha con la aplicación del método de King. Posteriormente se estableció la repoblación con la especie Iguana iguana; para ello se introdujeron 18 hembras y 6 machos. Por ultimo se realizo el procesamiento y análisis de la información obtenida. Los mayores incrementos promedios totales y mensuales en altura y diámetro basal se presentaron en C. candidissimum (Vahl) DC (21.93 cm y 3.655 cm y 0.34 mm y 0.057 mm). En la sobrevivencia los valores de excelente (100%) lo obtuvieron las especies C. candidissimum (Vahl) DC y D. retusa Hemsl y entre los buenos resultaron G. ulmifolia (76%) y S. humilis (67%). La sobrevivencia promedio de las especies forestales establecidas fue de (87 %). 10 especies vegetales fueron identificadas (Elitraria imbricata, Baltimora recta, Sida acuta, Lantara camara, Rowolfio tetrafila, Commelina difusa, Priva lappulaceae, Mimosa pudica, Datura stramonium y Solanum? americanum). En el primer monitoreo no se encontró Iguana iguana solo la Ctenosaura similis (52 individuos), observado en los transeptos 2, 4 y 6 (en sitios con árboles grandes y frondosos, distantes de la fuente de agua. Después de la repoblación, la especie Iguana iguana (51 individuos) se observó en los transectos 2, 5 y 6 (en sitios próximos a fuentes de agua, árboles pequeños. Dentro de cada parcela se ubicó una parcela útil (16 individuos) para realizar el levantamiento de datos dasométricos (altura cm, diámetro basal mm y sobrevivencia) y análisis estadístico. Luego se identificaron las especies vegetales presentes en la plantación y se monitoreo (caracterización del sitio) de Iguana iguana (Iguana verde) y Ctenosaura similis (Garrobo negro también conocida como iguana rayada), para lo cual se establecieron seis transeptos (156 m, 200 m, 209 m, 212 m, 190 m y 198 m) en 4.9 ha con la aplicación del método de King. Posteriormente se estableció la repoblación con la especie Iguana iguana; para ello se introdujeron 18 hembras y 6 machos. Por último se realizo el procesamiento y análisis de la información obtenida. Los mayores incrementos promedios totales y mensuales en altura y diámetro basal se presentaron en C. candidissimum (Vahl) DC (21.93 cm y 3.655 cm y 0.34 mm y 0.057 mm). En la sobrevivencia los valores de excelente (100%) lo obtuvieron las especies C. candidissimum (Vahl) DC y D. retusa Hemsl y entre los buenos resultaron G. ulmifolia (76%) y S. humilis (67%). La sobrevivencia promedio de las especies forestales establecidas fue de (87 %). 10 especies vegetales fueron identificadas (Elitraria imbricata, Baltimora recta, Sida acuta, Lantara camara, Rowolfio tetrafila, Commelina difusa, Priva lappulaceae, Mimosa pudica, Datura stramonium y Solanum? americanum). En el primer monitoreo no se encontró Iguana iguana solo la Ctenosaura similis (52 individuos), observado en los transeptos 2, 4 y 6 (en sitios con árboles grandes y frondosos, distantes de la fuente de agua. Después de la repoblación, la especie Iguana iguana (51 individuos) se observó en los transectos 2, 5 y 6 (en sitios próximos a fuentes de agua, árboles pequeños. Y Ctenosaura similis (48 individuos) se observó en los transectos 2, 3, 4 y 6
