    School Culture: INSTRUMEN UNTUK MEMBENTUK KARAKTER PESERTA DIDIK Oleh : Khozin *) Fakultas Agama Islam UMM ABSTRACT The study described School Culture as students’ character shaping instrument. It emphasized on the three aspects of characters: integrity, discipline, and struggle of life in facing life challenges. Apart from teaching and learning process in the class, conducive School Culture greatly influenced students’ character. Hence, development strategy of School Culture also played an important role in encouraging student’s integrity, discipline, and struggle of life. In addition, the study suggested three aspects of the development strategy: strong leadership, qualified teachers and staff, and comprehensive School Culture concept as the School’s commitment.     Abstract:

    The current study aimed at identifying Turkish primary School teachers’ perceptions of School Culture regarding ICT integration in education. In addition, the current study was designed to investigate factors that might influence their perceptions. The participants were 1540 primary School teachers. The findings revealed that the teachers’ perceptions regarding School Culture in both motivational and technical aspects were not positive. Gender, ownership of a personal computer, Internet access, professional experience, and weekly computer use seemed to play an important role in the perceived School Culture regarding ICT integration in education.

    Abstract:

    Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to explore supportive and shared leadership structures at Schools as a function of School Culture policies and procedures. Design/methodology/approach – A qualitative study was conducted at three secondary Schools in the Midwestern USA. Administrators and teachers were interviewed, professional learning communities observed and artifacts collected to explore School Culture policies, procedures and leadership in the implementation of professional learning community practice. Findings – This study concludes that School leaders must provide supportive and shared leadership structures for teachers in order to ensure a positive School Culture and effective professional learning communities that impact School improvement. Leaders in Schools must work directly with teachers to create policies and procedures that provide teachers the leadership structure to directly impact School improvement through professional learning community collaborative efforts.
