The layer performance parameters like feed consumption, feed efficiency, egg weight, egg production and egg quality were studied. Results: Feed efficiency was also found to be improved in Superliv liquid supplemented group T2. Significant (p<0.05) improvement in egg weight and egg production in Superliv liquid supplemented group T2. Serum cortisol level was also significantly reduced in group T2 birds after Superliv liquid supplementation. Conclusion: From the overall study, it was concluded that the supplementation synthetic vitamin C as well as herbal Liver Tonic Superliv liquid at the levels studied in the experiment found to be beneficial to improve the performance parameters like feed efficiency, egg weight, egg production in laying hens during summer stress. Methodology: 18 experimental piglets were randomly divided into 3 groups (n=6). Group T1 served as no treatment control group fed with basal ration only, group T2 piglets were supplemented with Yakrifit bolus (M/S Ayurvet Limited, India) (½ bolus /piglet/day for 0-7 days in first month & repeated for a week in second month) along with basal ration and group T3 piglets were supplemented with Yakrifit liquid (M/S Ayurvet Limited, India) (10ml/piglet/day for 0-7 days in first & repeated for a week in second month) along with basal ration. Results: A significant improvement was recorded in terms of growth, performance, haemato biochemical parameters and Cost benefit ratio in Liver Tonic supplemented groups as compared to control group. Conclusions: Supplementation of herbal Liver Tonic products exert an anabolic effect on piglets body, optimized the growth indices during post weaned to grower stage.

EFFECT OF SUPPLEMENTATION OF HERBAL Liver Tonic- XLIVPRO ON GROWTH AND PERFORMANCE IN BROILERS

Objective of the experimental trial was to study the effect of polyherbal Liver Tonic Xlivpro premix (M/S Ayurvet Limited, India) on growth and performance in broilers. Day old chicks (n=60) were divided into 2 identical groups (T0 and T1) randomly. Basal diets (starter and finisher) were given to broiler chicks as per standard NRC requirements as well as artificial lighting was provided for 12 hrs daily. Group T0, control group provided with standard basal diet without any Liver Tonic premix and in group T1 basal diet supplemented with herbal Liver Tonic Xlivpro premix (250 g/tonne of feed from 0-35 days). Statistical analysis of results showed a significant (P>0.05) increase in live weight (g) and live weight gain (g) in herbal Liver Tonic Xlivpro premix supplemented T1 group (1885.66 and 1842.17) in comparison to control T0 group (1814.01 and 1771.39). At the end of experiment herbal Liver Tonic Xlivpro premix supplemented T1 group showed improved FCR in comparison of control untreated group T0. Dressing percentage was significantly improved in herbal Liver Tonic Xlivpro premix supplemented group T1 in comparison to untreated group T0. Plasma concentration of total protein (g/dl) and enzymes (AST/ALT) (U/L) was found to be non-significantly (P>0.05) different between the both groups, though numerically high in Xlivpro premix supplemented group. The trial investigation revealed better results in herbal Liver Tonic Xlivpro premix supplemented group in comparison to the untreated group. The product was found to be safe for usage.

Proportion of neck was highest (P<0.05) in T1 group, however, proportions of thigh and drumstick were highest (P<0.05) in T2 and T3 groups. Plasma concentration of total protein and activities of AST and ALT were similar in all the treatments. In conclusion, use of Liver Tonics in the diet improved performance and carcass traits in broilers, however, the product in T2 i.e. AV/SSL/12 at lower level showed better performance compared to Superliv and Xlivpro.

Determination of Oleanolic Acid, Ursolic Acid, Lupeol, and Stigmasterol by High-Performance Thin-Layer Chromatographic Method in Oldenlandia corymbosa Linn

(Rubiaceae) is an important herb traditionally used as a febrifuge and Liver Tonic. In this study, a high-performance thin-layer chromatography (HPTLC) method has been established for the quantification of four bioactive markers, oleanolic acid (OA), ursolic acid (UA), lupeol (LU), and stigmasterol (ST), in the whole plant of O. corymbosa . Separation was achieved on silica gel 60 F_254 HPTLC plates using hexane-ethyl acetate-methanol (8.2:1.8:0.5, v / v ) for oleanolic acid and ursolic acid; and toluene-methanol (9.4:0.6, v / v ) for lupeol and stigmasterol as the mobile phases. The quantitation of the four markers was carried out using the densitometric scanning at 540 nm after derivatization using sulfuric acid reagent. The linear regression analysis data for the calibration plots showed a good linear relationship ( r ^2 = 0.9831–0.9979) in the concentration range of 1200–4200 ng for oleanolic acid, 400–1400 ng for ursolic acid, 100–500 ng for lupeol, and 500–2500 ng per spot for stigmasterol with respect to area. The method was validated for linearity, inter-day precision, intra-day precision, repeatability, accuracy, specificity, limit of detection, and limit of quantification. The average recoveries for oleanolic acid, ursolic acid, lupeol, and stigmasterol were 98.77 to 99.12%, indicating the good reproducibility. Stigmasterol 1.19 ± 0.04% w / w was present at high concentration, and oleanolic acid 0.012 ± 0.006% w / w was present at low concentration in the whole plant powder. The proposed HPTLC method was found to be simple, precise, sensitive, accurate, reproducible, and robust.

Hepatosuppression Study by Tinospora Cordifolia
2010Co-Authors: Shirish S. PingaleAbstract:The aim of the present work is to evaluate the effect of Tinospora cordifolia against hepatosuppression induced by carbon tetrachloride (CCl4). The evaluation markers used were serum marker enzymes viz. GOT, GPT, Alkaline phosphate, glucose, bilirubin, Triglycerides, γGT, cholesterol, DNA, RNA and total protein. These biochemical parameters were significantly changed by the single dose of CCl4. The treatment of Tinospora cordifolia significantly recovers all the serum and Liver parameters like normal levels. However, silymarin was used as a reference standard for this study. The findings indicate that the hepatoprotective action of Tinospora cordifolia against hepatosuppression possibly involves CCl4 bioactivation through selective inhibitors of reactive oxygen species like antioxidants brought about significant inhibition of TBARS suggesting possible involvement of O2 –, HO2, HO2 –, H2O2 and OH. Light and electron microscope photographs also support the same. Hence Tinospora cordifolia indicating protection in Liver may prove promising effect against Liver disorders. Hepatosuppression by Ricinus communis against CCl4 Induced Liver Toxicity in Rat

PingaleAbstract:The present work deals with the use of Ricinus communis leaves powder against hepatosuppression induced by carbon tetrachloride. The results were documented by examination of blood and tissue biochemical serum marker enzymes like GOT, GPT, Alkaline phosphate, glucose, cholesterol, bilirubin, total protein etc. These biochemical parameters were significantly changed by the single dose of CCl 4 which can be recovered by giving treatment of Ricinus communis. Silymarin was used as a reference standard for comparison. From the findings it is clear that the hepatoprotective potential of Ricinus communis against hepatosuppression possibly involve mechanism related to its ability to block the P-450 mediated CCl 4 bioactivation through selective inhibitors of Reactive Oxygen Species like antioxidants brought about significant inhibition of TBARS suggesting possible involvement of O2 – , HO 2 , HO 2 – , H 2 O 2 and OH. The hepatoprotective effects were supported by Light and Electron microscope studies. The overall results indicate that Ricinus communis has high potential in healing Liver parenchyma and regeneration of Liver cells. It shows best ability to protect Liver may act even in humans as potent Liver Tonic due to presence of large number of antioxidants.

Hepatosuppression by Adhatoda vasica against CCl 4 Induced Liver Toxicity in Rat

Adhatoda vasica have been reported to exhibit varying degrees of hepatoprotection against the CCl 4 induced Liver dysfunction in rats. The present work was carried out to investigate the potential hepatoprotective action of Adhatoda vasica whole plant powder against CCl 4 induced Liver damaged Wister rat model. Blood and tissue biochemical parameters of Liver have been examined for evaluating the hepatoprotection action. These biochemical markers are GOT, GPT, Alkaline phosphate, glucose, bilirubin, Triglycerides, γGT, cholesterol, DNA, RNA, total protein etc, The effect of Adhatoda vasica whole plant powder is compared with Silymarin by standard protocol and is found to have better hepatoprotective action, thus Adhatoda vasica indicating protection in Liver may prove promising effect against Liver disorders. Many herbs were found in India as well as in tropical and sub tropical regions of the world. Some Hepatoprotective function is achieved by herbal medicines based on phyllanthus species but these are declared as endangered plants by Indian Systems of Medicines. The present task was carried out to investigate the action of Argemone mexicana L plant material on CCl4 (Carbon tetra Chloride) induced Liver damaged in rats. Acute toxicity study, efficacy study, blood and tissue biochemical assays like ALT, AST, bilirubin, total protein, glucose, LM and EM etc have been studied for evaluation of Hepatocurative action.

Acute Toxicity Study for Argemone mexicana L. Root Bark Powder

PingaleAbstract:Summary The aim of the present work is to carry out acute toxicity study of root bark powder of Argemone mexicana L as it is one of the potent Liver Tonic. The exposure of this powder in the form of aqueous slurry on Swiss mice was carried out and the exposure route was oral single administration with water. The observations of changes in body weight, food and water intake as well as cage side observations were reported. The root bark powder was found to be nontoxic.

Conclusion: From the overall study, it was concluded that the supplementation synthetic vitamin C as well as herbal Liver Tonic Superliv liquid at the levels studied in the experiment found to be beneficial to improve the performance parameters like feed efficiency, egg weight, egg production in laying hens during summer stress. RavikanthAbstract:Objective: The present study was designed to study the efficacy of herbal Liver Tonic product Superliv liquid (M/S Ayurvet Limited) on overall performance in layer birds during summer stress. Methods: Seventy-two commercial layer strain BV300 were randomly divided into three groups. Each group was subdivided into three replicates (n=8). Group T0, the control group, supplemented with commercial layer mash only. In Group T1 commercial layer mash supplemented with synthetic vitamin C at 100 gm/tonne of feed and group T2 commercial layer supplemented with herbal Liver Tonic-Superliv Liquid at 10 ml/100birds/day (M/S Ayurvet Limited). The layer performance parameters like feed consumption, feed efficiency, egg weight, egg production and egg quality were studied. Results: Feed efficiency was also found to be improved in Superliv liquid supplemented group T2. Significant (p<0.05) improvement in egg weight and egg production in Superliv liquid supplemented group T2. Serum cortisol level was also significantly reduced in group T2 birds after Superliv liquid supplementation.
